Fall morning at Rock Creek Andalusian
At our small Andalusian ranch in the foothills of Oregon wine country, we are focused on developing well rounded individuals with soft attitudes and, of course, beauty and movement!
We have retired from breeding but still love the three horses still on the ranch.
Mercedes is slowly being trained in dressage. I do regular ground training with her. She is my horse-of-a-lifetime. Would have been great if I had found her when my body was younger, but am grateful for having her now.
Serena (Dante's mom) is pretty much retired at age 22 - however still has lots of 'go' in her.
Valerio is only a 2-yr-old. He is very tall and a real sweetheart. I do ground work and his trainer, Jessica Nolan, comes out occasionally for a lesson.

2020 PRE colt, valerio (out of mercedes)
Valerio was born on July 1, 2020 and was beautiful from the beginning! He is short coupled and has very long legs. His dam, Mercedes, is 16.2hh, his sire, Faralay II is 16.3hh and his grandsire, Romerito II, is 17hh. There was never a doubt that this foal would be tall with fabulous dressage-type movement. What is icing on the cake is that he has his mom's loving temperament, is very intelligent and appears to be turning black bay (like his sire). Even more than most Andalusians, Valerio really connects with humans. We are excited for his future!
2017 PRE filly, Reina (out of Mercedes)
- SOLD - Reina was born on April 18, 2017 to our delight! As we watched her feet and legs coming out, we were in awe of her size. She is so big, bold and athletic - trying to get up before her back legs were fully out of Mercedes! And she has not slowed down. This is the first foal of ours that does moves like a Baroque war horse (baby airs) from the time she was a few days old. Impressive!! These pictures are from birth to 2-yrs-old.
andalusian pre mare - mercedes pro
Mercedes is 16.2hh, 6-yr-old bay PRE bred to Jalisco (16.3hh PRE) and successfully giving birth to a beautiful and healthy filly, Reina.
While looking for a new mare, I found myself consistently attracted to offspring of 17hh PRE stallion, Romerito II
Romerito is Mercedes sire known for his movement and amazing temperament - both passed on to Mercedes. She is one of those rare horses that has an in-your-pocket personality and, at the same time, is a powerful forward mover at all three gates. Really excited about her potential as a dressage horse. We are expecting her 3rd foal (after a 2 yr. rest) in July 2020. This will be the best bred foal so far in our program and the last we produce. Bred to Faralay II - 16.3hh PRE with an impressive dressage background.
We are no longer breeding - Mercedes, with her fabulous movement, will be going into training as a dressage horse - and my best friend :)
Dante de Armani (born 7/23/2013)
Birth to 5-yrs-old
SOLD to Keihanna Our mare, Serena, along with stud, Armani, produced this fabulous colt, Dante. We are so blessed to have such a gorgeous horse as Serena's final foal! Dante has a Big personality and will go far in whatever direction his life takes him. He's been in training with Pippa Callanan for 2 years before she moved to France (see Trainers Page for more info about Pippa & Julia) and is now training with Julia Wolffe. Dante is available for lease and possibly for sale to the right person. Dante will be 6-yrs-old the end of July 2020 - he is ready for his "person"
Serena
Serena is our beautiful, classic pure Spanish Andalusian mare who gifted us with Dante de Armani. Unfortunately we have not been successful after a few years of attempts to get her with foal again. As a result and because of her 21 years of age, we have retired her as a brood mare and will now go forward with getting her well established under saddle. It is too bad previous owners did not get her started - she is a magnificent mover with a wonderful mind! She is happily in retirement.
